On Thursday 31st January 2002, Janica Kostelić left Austria's Innerkrems and went to Selce for rehabilitation and condition training, before leaving for the Winter Olympics at Salt Lake City.

On Thursday, during a slalom training, Janica felt pains in her back, after which she travelled with her father Ante Kostelić to 'Terme Selce', to see dr Vlasta Brozičević.

After deciding that Janica was not going to World Cup races in Sweden's Are, Ante Kostelić and Vedran Pavlek decided to go to Selce till Sunday, 3rd February, for training and rest before Salt Lake City. After a useful stay, training and rest in Selce, Janica Kostelić is travelling to Salt Lake City on 5th February, a day after it was planned.

This will leave her enough days of training ahead of the first competitions in the coming Olympics (the combined, 14th February).
