Janica Kostelić is the only sports personality in Croatia that can boast having her own postage stamp. The Croatian postal service issued a stamp with the face of the best world skier 2000/2001 on Saturday 21 April.

"I like it a lot and I think it is a great honour to have your own stamp," said Janica at the promotional reception in Zagreb.

The stamp with Janica's face was issued in a sheet of 9 stamps and with a key ring. Also issued was a FDC. The nominal value of the stamp measuring 35.50X29.82 mm is 2.80 kuna and was published in 350.100 copies.

"Janica Kostelić was a part of every home last season. We are deeply grateful to her for winning the World Cup, the greatest undertaking in sport seen in Croatia. It is rare to see a living person appear on a stamp, but is anyone in Croatia deserves that honour, then it is Janica," said Igor Zidić, president of the project for the design of the stamp, at the reception.
