Today's combined downhill part of the race saw Janica Kostelic finshing first with 0.66 seconds advantage! First slalom run will be held at 15:30, and Janica starts with bib number 5! Good luck Janica!

Croatia's Janica Kostelic achieved quite an impressive performance today in clocking the fastest time in the combined downhill, the first part of the three-run combined competition held by perfect weather and course condition on the "Deborah Compagnoni" course. It's Janica's first major win in that specialty!

Janica Kostelic was able to successfully defend her leader in the overall combined standings before the third and last leg of the day. She lost 29/100 of a second on Anja Paerson who achieved a very aggressive run yet she retained the command with a lead of 37/100 on the triple World Champion.

She did it! After another tough battle against Sweden's Anja Paerson during the entire day, Janica Kostelic celebrated her sixth gold medal at the end of a very exciting combined event raced on the "Deborah Compagnoni" course in Santa Caterina. Thanks to an outstanding second slalom run, the skier from Zagreb beat Anja by an amazing margin of 1,45 seconds while Austria's Marlies Schild was 3rd at 2,70 seconds.

Janica Kostelic celebrated an historic victory today in Santa Caterina's World downhill after beating by 26/100 of a second Italy surprising Elena Facchini while her friend Renate Goetschl was 3rd at 39/100.

» Giant slalom in doubt
Janica Kostelic, world champion in downhill adn combined, may not participate in giant slalom race. She has high temperature (38 degrees) and suffers from heavy cough and sore throat, so she did not even practice today. She started taking antibiotics this morning, and in the afternoon her condition was a little bit better.

Downhill and combined world champion Janica Kostelic decided to skip the giant slalom event today.

Bormio World double gold medalist, Janica Kostelic, did not compete in Tuesday’s giant slalom because she is suffering from the flu. Kostelic, who earlier won the world combined and downhill titles here, is being treated by physicians to lower her fever.

Two times world championship Janica Kostelic feels much better today! Although she still suffers from a cough, her medical condition is stabilizing, and she will definitely participate in the race.

Janica Kostelic won her third gold medal at these World Champioships this
evening in a dramatic slalom, beating by 18/100 of a second the great favorite Tanja Poutiainen after another extraordinary second run.

» Reception cancelled
Janica Kostelic, her father and coach Ante and the entire Croatian alpine ski team thanks the vice-mayor of Zagreb Milan Bandic and the city of Zagreb for the offer to organize a reception at the Ban Jelacic Square. They also thank the prime minister Ivo Sanader and Croatia Airlines for the special charter flight which would take them back to Zagreb.

» Janica in the lead in the Overall's
Janica Kostelic finished 4th in today's Super G race. She was very pleased but also felt that she didn't do her best in the middle part of the slope. The visibility was worse and she didn't want to take any chances.
» 4th place for Janica Kostelic in Are's Super-G
Janica Kostelic achieved a promising comeback in Super-G in Are where she came in 4th, only a few hundredths away from her first podium in the specialty this year. The triple World Champion from Santa Caterina was also happy to take over the lead in the Overall World Cup standings ahead of Tanja Poutiainen and Anja Paerson, 5th in that competition. She regained some energy after the exhausting Italian competitions which helped her to enjoy her racing.

Janica Kostelic finished 11th in today's giant slalom race in Are (SWE). She was 9th after the 1st run but was a bit slower in the 2nd run and finished 11th.

After reaching an excellent 4th place in Saturday's Super-G, Janica Kostelic had to be content with a more modest 11th place the next day in the giant slalom won by Spain's Marie-Jose Rienda-Contreras.

The new downhill World Champion Janica Kostelic was a relaxed 3rd today in the first training run held on the newly designed "Freiteve Olympic" course, at 39/100 of a second behind Itayl's Lucia Recchia. The triple World Champion from Santa Caterina stood-up before crossing the finish line yet she still finished ahead established speed specialists as Austria's Michaela Dorfmeister and Renate Goetschl, while Anja Paerson was a solid 6th.

Starting numbers drawn
After the race Janica said she could have done better, especially in the first two checkpoints as she did not choose the optimal path. She also said she is satisfied with the display in the lower part of the slope.

Janica Kostelic finished 5th in today’s Super G event and said she is satisfied considering the way in which the slope was set. She believes she will repeat the good performance in the next couple of days.

Janica Kostelic, 5th in today's Super-G raced on the Olympic course of the 2006 Winter Games, missed her first Super-G podium of the season by only 1/100 of a second. She tied with Germany's Hilde Gerg and finished 66/100 of a second behind the winner, Sweden's Anja Paerson who came ahead of Italy's Isolde Kostner.

Janica Kostelic reached her second World Cup podium in downhill this season in finishing 2nd in the pre-Olympic race held on the "Fraiteve-Olympic" run in San Sicario. Only Sweden's Anja Paerson, winner in Friday's Super-G was faster than her - by 24/100 of a second.

Janica Kostelic celebrated her second World Cup win this season in San Sicario's combined event raced on the lower part of the « Fraiteve Olympic" course. The skier from Zagreb beat her main contender, Anja Paerson, by 43/100 of a second, while Canada's Emily Brydon was 3rd at 1,32 seconds.
