Second official downhill training took place today in Lake Louise in Canada.

» Downhill practice cancelled
Due to very bad weather conditions - heavy snowfall, the downhill practice scheduled for today has been cancellled. There will be no additional practices before the FIS World Cup downhill event tomorrow.

» Starting numbers drawn
Starting numbers for the FIS World Cup ladies' downhill event, which will take place this evening in Lake Louise, have been drawn.
» Janica 13th in downhill
Janica Kostelic finished 13th in the first downhill event of the season and gave a short statement after the race for her official web page.

Janica Kostelic reached a solid 13th place in Lake Louise at the end of the first of two downhills held in difficult weather conditions on the “Olympic Run” which had to be shortened because of gusts of winds and snowfalls.

Janica Kostelic keeps on surprising and impressing the women’s World Cup tour. More than six hundred days after her last Super-G race in Kvitfjell during the 2003 World Cup finals, the Croatian ace scored a superb 5th place in Lake Louise, her best result in the Canadian event. She was 6th here five years ago.

Janica Kostelic finished 6th in today's FIS World Cup Super-G event held in Altenmarkt in Austria.

Janica Kostelic came once more very close to her first Super-G World Cup podium of the new season - she finished a strong 6th in today's competition in Altenmarkt, only a few hundredths away from it. Two years ago, she crashed on the same course while fighting for her first Super-G victory.

After two safe runs, Janica Kostelic reached another World Cup point in Altenmarkt's slalom won by Finland's Tanja Poutiainen who celebrated her third victory of the season in front of a modest crowd of two-three thousand spectators.

Although Janica's third official training for the World Cup race was canceled, she had a good giant slalom training. She is starting 25th in tomorrow’s race.

Second FIS World Cup downhill event in Val d'Isere (FRA) has also been cancelled, again due to heavy snowfall and generally bad weather conditions. It is not known whether these two races will be somehow replaced.

Janica Kostelic who achieved a series of strong performances in recent speed events in Lake Louise and Altenmarkt was aiming for another great race on the Engiadina run on which she won two gold medals in 2003 and suffered a terrible crash in 1999 after In fact, she clocked a very fast intermediate time at the top of the course before making a huge mistake at a jump.

Janica Kostelic finished 16th in today’s Super-G race in St. Moritz (SUI). Her time was 1:16.17 which didn’t satisfy her.

» Bad luck for Janica Kostelic
Janica Kostelic missed a great chance to reach another podium in today’s giant slalom raced on the demanding Engiadina course in St Moritz. The skier from Zagreb, who clinched two gold medals here in February 2003, crashed in the lower part of her second run after clocking one of the fastest intermediate times.

Janica was training slalom yesterday in the afternoon on Sljeme. She traveled to Innerkrems later that evening where she will continue with her practice for the giant slalom and slalom races that will take place this week in Semmering (AUT). We believe that she will have excellent results.

Janica Kostelic finished 5th in today's FIS World Cup giant slalom ladies' event held in Semmering. After the first run, set up by her father Ante, Janica was 9th, but made up for that in the second run, clinching excellent 5th place in the end.
