Janica awarded
Janica Kostelic was once again awarded, and this time by the Croatian Olympic Federation in Vatroslav Lisinski concert hall for her achievement in the year 2002. The four time medal winner on Olympic Games in Salt Lake City is now the owner of Sportswoman of the year award, by the choice of COF.

«Every award has its value. Considering the fact that I'm representing Croatian Olympic Federation and Croatia, and that this is coming from the very top of Croatian sport, it certainly has a great value. There have been too many award giving ceremonies, but it's a part of my career. I hope to be here again when next Olympic Games are over. Although, it'll be difficult to repeat the result from Salt Lake City» said Janica. She was also awarded for the best promoter of Croatian sport in the world. There was also a hard struggle between Gordan Kozulj and Ivica Kostelic in male competition, but Kozulj won. Ante Kostelic, Janica's father and coach, was awarded for the best coach of the year. The best team prize went to the rowing team (Sinisa and Niksa Skelin), the best representation prize went to crossbow team (Branka Pereglin, Nikolina Krivanek and Sanja Komar), the best young hopes were Edis Elkasevic, athlete, and Lara Stock, 20-year old chess player. The best sportsman with physical boundaries was a swimmer, Mihovil Spanja. The awards for their life work were given to Vlatko Markovic and Andrija Vekic (both in football), Boris Volcansek (swimming), Radovan Kirin (athletics, handball, skiing) and Eddo Pezzi (sport journalism).
