Janica Kosteli blog: To Kvitfjell with memories from Schladming
We are approaching the end of 2012/13 ski season, it is only just two more stops before World Cup Finals in Lenzerheide. And on my way from Germany to Norway I have the perfect opportunity to reflect a little bit on the Alpine World Ski Championships in Schladming....

Before 2013 we were already so many times in Schladming, so I thought there could not possibly be any major differences. Oh, but I was wrong, because there were some. The organizers really gave their best and from that point of view - during the World Ski Championships everything in Schladming was - just perfect. All the organisatory efforts were at the end also rewarded on Sunday with Marcel Hirscher taking men's slalom gold. And I think Marcel did such a phenomenal job under the huge amount of pressure he must have felt from Austria's media and public. I mean - he is doing great job through the whole season honestly said, but this in Schladming was still somehow very special.

But even better job from Marcel's was done by - Mr. Ted Ligety. Three gold medals are for sure more than anyone could have expected - but the guy is skiing so fast from the start of the season onwards so - just hats off to him as well.

We have also left Schladming happy. We came to ski the best we can, to have fun and the fact that Ivica has at the end taken yet another "big event" medal makes us only even more proud of him. It was also nice to see so many young Croatian alpine skiers competing, and I do hope that in the future they will make headlines not only like Filip Zubi through his Nations Team Event collision with Felix Neureuther (so happy both of them came uninjured from that unfortunate accident). :)

From the ladies' side I really have to mention again Tina Maze. She was top class in Schladming as well - what amount of energy this lady has in this season - wow, full respect!

I usually do not congratulate anyone until all competitions are over, but at this point I feel the need to congratulate Tina on winning her career's first big Crystal Globe! She has secured it even mathematically this past weekend in Meribel, so it will be only formality for her to receive it at the World Cup Finals in Lenzerheide. :) Great job Tina!

And to all of you reading my blog - big hello from Munich airport, tomorrow we are headed via Kvitfjell ;)
