Janica’s best downhill ever!
She only trained downhill a few times, but she again managed to prove that she is a – wonder! Janica Kostelic finished sixth in the Lenzerheide downhill, and that is the best downhill result of her career! Not only that – she again managed to increase her point lead in the World Cup. Plus: the Saturday’s downhill is scored for the combination, a discipline where Janica reigns supreme...

- I’m super-pleased, because that weather didn’t work for us – said Janica at the finish line.
A day earlier, there was talk about the possible cancelation of the race due to meteo-conditions. At the track – they were borderline regular.
– There was thick and wet snow at the upper section of the course, and it completely fogged up my goggles! I couldn’t see a thing – said a happy Janica, having left the world’s premiere downhill skier Carole Montillet, as well as Karen Putzer – behind her.
Our skier was a second behind the race-winner, Austria’s Michaela Dorfmeister.
- The skis decided this one! Jancia had her best result racing on her Solomons, because Juraj Haffner prepared a total of three pairs of skis for her. But Solomon wasn’t ready for the conditions that we had on the course. Had it been ready – Janica would’ve finished first! She was great, courageus, held an excellent path, and went through the jumps superbly. I had to lie to the Austrians when they asked me how much she trained downhill, I didn’t want to make them feel bad. That’s why I’m convinced that Janica will be the world’s premiere downhill skier in another two years – concluded father Ante Kostelic.
A slalom race will be held at Lenzerheide on Sunday – also scored for the combination, together with today’s downhill.
