Janica starts ninth
Janica Kostelic will be starting ninth in the Val d’Isere giant slalom race. This will be the first World Cup race after the American tour, that supplied Janica with a huge point difference in the overall standings.

. The course’s first run will be set by Anders Pearsson, the father of Sweden’s Anja, and it is to have 50 gates and 47 direction changes. The race starts at 9.30 AM. The start is at 2198 meters above sea level, with the finish at 1800m, meaning a 398 meters height difference. The second run, starting at 12.30, will be set by Austria’s W. Hlaybaina.
A day before the giant slalom, Janica trained with Ana Jelusic and Nika Fleiss, on a pretty soft and straight course. Janica felt fine, and expects the Val d’Isere course to be harder, enabling her to achieve her maximum. Even if it is to early for predictions, we can expect her to show her true quality.
