Janica is relaxed
Janica Kostelic achieved two smooth training runs on the new “Silvano Beltrametti” downhill run located in Parpan, near Lenzerheide, which will host the 2005 World Cup Finals this week. The triple World Champion from Santa Caterina finished 5th and 4th in the two timed trials organised Monday and won by Austria's Renate Goetschl and Michaela Dorfmeister, two of the best speed specialists of the season.

Janica lost 1,50 seconds on Goetschl in the morning but only 13/100 of a second on Dorfmeister in the afternoon. In both tests, the skier from Zagreb was faster than Sweden's Anja Paerson, 10th and 6th in those runs.

"The downhill looks difficult at first sight but at the end of the day, it's not too tough, the first part is a little steep and too straight but it's ok," said Vedran Pavlek the manager of the Alpine Ski Team. "Janica took it easy and she was pleased with her runs."

After her win in Sansicario's combined which helped her to get closer to Anja Paerson in the Overall standings, Janica took two days off at home before training three days on Sljeme. She travelled to Lenzerheide on Friday and took another day off there.

"It will be a fun week, it's good that so many World Cup titles are still opened, it makes everything more interesting," added Pavlek who also praised the positive attitude of Janica Kostelic. "She is relaxed and enjoying her season, she will certainly give her best this week, but she already achieved great performances during this past season," he added.

The men will train on Tuesday and the first races, both downhill races, are scheduled for Wednesday. Only 63 points separates Paerson and Kostelic for the moment - each race will be decisive.
